Good of the Arrow: Great job this past weekend at Fellowship and Pilgrimage

Thank you to all the arrowmen who came out to support this past weekend's Lincoln Pilgrimage event where we had over 250 guests on Saturday. The events were fun, everyone positive, and I won a Sumo Wrestling event against one of our unnamed lodge officers. Fellowship was excellent and the S.S. Fluffy yacht provided massive excitement for those willing to go over the edge with it on the sledding hill. Complements to the Brotherhood ceremony team for a great ceremony and good member participation to greet six new Brotherhood members. Officers, thank you for spending time with all the members throughout the weekend and being on time for all event start times. Great job everyone!!!

Communications Committee: Eagle Pipe Deadline

The deadline for the next issue of the Eagle Pipe is February 19, 2010. Articles should be submitted to me or to Mr. Kelly before that date.
In writing your article, please take into account that the newsletter will probably be delivered the first week of April, so promoting events in March won't work.
Thanks for your cooperation

Community Service: Daddy-Daughter Dance

Rogers Elementary school will be holding a Daddy-Daughter Dance on Friday February 5 and Migisi will be there! We'll be taking pictures, helping with simple crafts, and serving refreshments. The project will start at 5:30 pm and last no later than 9:30 pm. Full uniform is expected.
The project will be at Allendale Elementary School, 3201 Oakwood Blvd in Melvindale. It's not far from where we hold our LEC meetings. (The school holding the dance is Rogers, but it is at Allendale, which is bigger and newer, so that part's not a typo).
Mahican is the point chapter on this project, but members of all chapters are invited to help out.
If you can make it, please contact Steve Donohue so he can provide a count to the school. If you have questions, he has answers.

Good of the Arrow: 2010 D-bar-A Scout Ranch Summer Camp Interviews

Are you looking for a summer job? Would like to get paid to do Scouting this summer? D-bar-A Scout Ranch will be hiring enthusiastic camp counselors to serve in a variety of roles. Experience in a summer camp staff job is an excellent resume-builder. A successful camp job on a resume indicates the person is motivated; works well with and cares about others, and can handle responsibility. Many employers are impressed with young people and adults who demonstrate previous work experience such as summer camp staffing. Summer camp is a unique leadership development opportunity for staff members. Camp staff members work with Scouts and adult leaders in a variety of roles that will challenge, test and develop self confidence, leadership skills and self esteem. Please join the Great Lakes Council and D-bar-A Scout Ranch for the 2010 D-bar-A Summer Camp Staff Interviews held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Dauch Scout Center. Both Scouts and Leaders are welcome to interview. Please register for an interview at www.glcscouting.org/camping. Please contact Joe Kulwicki, Camp Director, for questions at joekulwicki@gmail.com.

Good of the Arrow: Another Successful Wsigau Christmas Party

Brothers-
I am proud to say that Wsigau Chapter’s 2009 Christmas party was a great success. It was held at Zap Zone of Farmington this year and we had a total attendance of twenty five members. We raced Go Karts, ate mounds of pizza, celebrated our success in winning the Edson Award, and played many games. Brothers were heard saying, “This is my best Zap Zone experience ever”, “We need to do this again, it’s so much fun!” and “I can’t believe that we are having this much fun for free!!!”
I know that we had a great time, and if you are looking for more fun just keep your eyes open for the many fun events that Wsigau Chapter will be hosting in the very near future.

Good of the Arrow: Migisi's Trees Auction Results

At the 2009 Annual Dinner we auctioned off the chance to choose one of the first three trees from our tree farm at D-bar-A Scout Ranch. The trees, which have been cultivated since 2003, have produced several Christmas-worthy specimens.
The third choice auction was won by Harold Hanna, who was adviser when the trees were planted. Second choice was won by Sharon Teran a self-described tree stalker. The first choice went to Ethan Rein who was Lodge Chief when the trees were planted thus proving once again that we are a youth-led organization.
Thanks to the generosity of our bidders, the auction raised more than $300.

Good of the Arrow: Special needs troop has 5 new Eagle Scouts

There is a story in today's (11/30/2009) Free Press about 5 new Eagle Scouts in Troop 330, which serves special needs Scouts. What is relevant about this is that four (4) of these new Eagle Scouts are also Brotherhood members of our lodge and the Scoutmaster, Sid Keeler, is one of our Vigil Honor members. When you see these Scouts at any of our next events, please congratulate them on their special accomplishment!
